The Sound of Merzic: A distorted, roller-coaster ride through Evil's Merz Nite experience; editing out large chunks of history in an attempt to make a nice thing.

Featured performers include Simon Fell, Lol Coxhill, Pat Thomas, Pence Eleven, OTL and Evil Dick. Performances have been edited (which might piss some people off...never mind) in order to give a flavour of the occasion rather than act as a live concert recording. 1. Generally Atmosphere Pt 1 - 0:57 "Can you see much?" "No." Neither could I, but one of the commentators here was in a wheelchair and so had a right to push to the front! Bloody cripples! Don't mean it, really.
2. bin Aladdin - 2:30 A magical moment featuring Lol Coxhill and Pat Thomas. OTL: "This is the good music bit." Evil: "And you get to stand in the middle of it as well!"
3. Stu and Marie "Bite it" - 3:28 Stu's dick-toe-phone was the cause of many a bemused onlooker. This rare moment, missed by nearly everyone, features some nice squeaky textures. Evil Dick comes under attack for encouraging Stu and Marie-Angelique to shed the shackles of free improv and indulge in the delights of the Bossanova! Enter stage right (or middle, seeing as we're in Supermono) Gamma, and a conversation concerning the value of 300, 000 Martian marbles. And look, here's Nat Blunt from P11 with an orange beard.
4. You're Fucking a Nut! - 2:06 Two blokes called Chocolate Sandwich. One of them had a coconut which he proceeded to dry hump. He shouted out "What am I?" and the other bloke shouted back "Your fucking nuts!" The guy who was fucking the nut also had two pieces of polystyrene which he rubbed together to create a shrill screechy noise. Presumably, this is equivalent to the sensation of dragging your finger nails down a blackboard or eating cottonwool. Pat provides the thrilling silent movie chase scene music on the piano.
5. Erzzattz - 2:06 This recording was taken early on in the evening. Electronics and Mark P.'s guitar can be heard in the background. I was standing next to a drummer. It fades in and out.
6. Lol/Pat/OTL/Evil - 1:52 A word about the sound: "No, it's not amped up!" Lol and Pat carry out a mating ritual while onlookers gaze on in amazement. Sound quality decays rapidly hence the abrupt edit.
7. Bob Cobbing (RIP) Whips it Out - 4:58 Evil bumps into Simon Fell and asks for a bottle of Stella at which point Bob Cobbing recites a poem.
8. Merzic - 3:39 Pat and Lol from the same moment earlier. Evil adds a little Merz of his own. That might be Mick Beck making the high pitched note - but I'm not sure. Bassoons are meant to be low instruments aren't they?! Pat goes all Nancarrowy. I have more of the Pat performance - edited down here for balance.
9. Generally Atmospheres Pt 2 - 1:05 "Yah, yah, OK...OK yah, yah!" When YUPPIES go to Merz Nite.
10. Stella and Becks? - 2:53 "Umm...have you got any beer left?" I ask. Suddenly, Lol and Simon "H from Steps" Fell appear in front of my microphone! How often does that happen? The playing is sooo good. This made my Merz Nite.
11. Poem Pt 1 - 1:12 Evil thinks: "I wonder how annoyed Adrian Clarke will be when he finds out I've bisected his poem and renamed half of it "Poem Pt 1?"
12. The Effects of Alcohol - 6:01 Damn, I wish I'd said yes when I was asked if I was "an artist." Sometimes words just roll off the tongue before you have time to think. Jennifer Pike, who's a lovely young lady, helped me put my postcard on the display board.
13. Postcard Discipline - 1:55 WARNING: Includes male bonding.
